The Beat Generation

The Beat Generation were a bunch of poets and writers who predated the hippie sub culture.

They met in coffee bars,recited poetry to eachother and listened to a form of Jazz known as Bebop.

Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac were the original founders who wrote some of the controversial literature of the time.

The style of the so called Beatniks was tight fitting black jeans for the women, black berets, striped shirts and dark sunglasses.
